Four Nighthawk Golfers Selected To 2025 PBC Team of Academic Distinction

DAHLONEGA – The Peach Belt Conference announced its men's and women's golf Teams of Academic Distinction for the 2024-25 academic year Wednesday. The University of North Georgia had four honorees between both its men's and women's golf programs named to their respective teams.

DAHLONEGA – The Peach Belt Conference announced its men's and women's golf Teams of Academic Distinction for the 2024-25 academic year Wednesday. The University of North Georgia had four honorees between both its men's and women's golf programs named to their respective teams.

To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee the program.

On the men's side, sophomore Colby Bennett was the lone Nighthawk named to the Team of Academic Distinction. This award comes as Bennett's second academic honor of his career after having been named a PBC Presidential Honor Roll Bronze Scholar last season.

The Nighthawks have had at least one member named to the Team of Academic Distinction in five straight seasons.

On the women's team, junior Cora Mount and seniors Lainey Panter and Jadin Ware were all honored academically.

After transferring to UNG from Tennessee Wesleyan this past year, Wednesday's announcement serves as the first academic award of Mount's career in a Nighthawk uniform.

For Panter, she excelled in the classroom for the entirety of her career in Dahlonega. This year's selection marks the eighth academic honor of her career for the three-time Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Scholastic All-American.

Ware makes her first appearance on the Team of Academic Distinction list after having twice been named a PBC Presidential Honor Roll Scholar previously.

UNG women's golf has now had at least one player named to the PBC All-Academic Team or Team of Academic Distinction in 13 straight years.
