No. 15 Nighthawks Earn First Ever NCAA Division II South Regional Berth
INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time in program history, the No. 15 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team has been selected to participate in the 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Regional.
The field for the tournament was announced by the NCAA national office Monday evening as it expanded to 18 teams and six individuals in 2025. The participants are set to meet in Gainesville, Ga. for one of four regionals across the country.
UNG has partnered with the Greater Gainesville Sports Alliance (GGSA) and will serve as hosts of the 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Regional on May 5-7 at Chattahoochee Golf Club. The event marks the fourth consecutive year in which NCAA championship golf will take place at CGC hosted by UNG.
The host and eighth-seeded Nighthawks earned their first ever at-large bid to the event after posting one of the best regular seasons in program history. UNG finished fifth place or better in eight of nine events on the season. That includes most recently a second straight Runner-Up finish in the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Championship.
The Nighthawks also broke numerous scoring records this season including the 18-hole and 54-hole program records as they finished in second place while hosting the 11th Annual LeeAnn Noble Memorial tournament at Achasta Golf Club.
UNG also earned its highest ranking in program history during the year, climbing as high as No. 11 in the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Coaches Poll.
Teams and individuals are listed in rank order. Conference automatic qualifiers are indicated in brackets next to the institution's name.
