No. 4 UNG Earns Second Seed, Will Host 2025 NCAA Southeast Regional #2
INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 4 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team has earned the second seed and will host the 2025 NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament #2 May 11-12 at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek as announced by the NCAA office Monday evening.
After second consecutive Peach Belt Conference Regular-season and Tournament titles for the Nighthawks, UNG returns to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight year and eighth season overall.
The Nighthawks are back in the NCAA postseason after making their first ever appearance in the National Semifinals a year ago during the team's historic 25-2 season.
As the second seed and host of the regional, the Nighthawks will face No. 29 and eighth-seeded PBC foe Georgia College (GCSU) in the First Round. UNG defeated the Bobcats 6-1 in the regular season and 4-1 in the PBC Tournament quarterfinals this year.
UNG's showdown against GCSU takes place Monday, May 11 at 11 a.m. at the UNG Tennis Complex.
The Nighthawks will also host third-seeded and No. 9 Columbus State (CSU) and sixth-seeded and No. 42 Lees-McRae who will face each other Monday, May 11 at 3 p.m.
The winners of the Monday matches will meet in the Round of 32 with a trip to the 2025 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla. on the line.
UNG went a combined 5-0 against GCSU, CSU and LMC this season, defeating the (LMC) Bobcats in the 2nd Annual Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase and sweeping the Cougars and (GCSU) Bobcats in the PBC Regular Season and Tournament.
The Nighthawks are looking to advance to the NCAA Championship site for the second consecutive season and third time in program history.
