DAHLONEGA -- No. 8 University of North Georgia (UNG) softball freshman catcher Carleigh Knowles continues to make history as she earned her third Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week honor Monday afternoon.

Knowles is now the first player in Peach Belt Conference history to win the Player of the Week award three times and the Freshman of the Week award twice all in one season. She's the first player since Georgia College's Caroline Snider in 2019 to win three Player of the Week Awards in the same year.

Knowles accomplished this feat after she made history on Saturday by drilling two home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Columbus State.

The rookie now holds the record for the most home runs in a single season by any player in UNG softball history with 20.

After going 7-for-16 (.438) at the plate with three home run, four runs scored and seven RBIs on the week, Knowles now ranks in the top 5 in eight offensive categories in the Peach Belt Conference.

She also leads all of NCAA Division-II in home runs while also ranking second in total bases, third in slugging percentage, and fourth in RBIs.

Knowles and the Nighthawks will take the diamond again this weekend in a three-game road series at Augusta. First pitch in g ame one of Friday's doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m.
