Worley Named Coach of the Year, Four Nighthawks Earn PBC All-Conference Honors

DAHLONEGA – The No. 3 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's golf team had four players earn 2025 Peach Belt Conference All-Conference honors as announced by the league office Thursday morning.

DAHLONEGA – The No. 3 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's golf team had four players earn 2025 Peach Belt Conference All-Conference honors as announced by the league office Thursday morning.

Senior Ethan Day and graduate student Jack Vajda were named to the PBC All-Conference First Team while sophomore Colby Bennett and senior Hughes Threlkeld earned spots on the Second Team.

After leading the Nighthawks to three victories and seven top-3 finishes in nine events this season, head coach Bryson Worley was also named the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year.

Worley is now the four-time PBC Coach of the Year. With his third consecutive selection of the award last year, Worley became the first coach in conference history to win the award in three straight seasons. He is now the third coach in league history to win the award four times and the only one to do so in consecutive seasons.

For Day, his First Team selection comes as the second all-conference honor of his career after being named to the Second Team last season. The senior leads the Nighthawks and ranks third in the PBC in scoring average this season at 71.2 strokes. His five top-10 finishes are tied for the most in the league this season.

Day's season is highlighted by the second-lowest round of the year for the Nighthawks which came in the final round of the Bearcat Fall Invitational. In that event, Day was UNG's highest finisher as the Nighthawks finished in first place. Just a few weeks later, Day came in second again in the Hurricane Invitational in another Nighthawk victory.

Vajda was one of only two PBC golfers to earn individual medalist honors in multiple events during the regular season. The Canton, Ga. native won the individual portion of the 3rd Annual Mizuno Intercollegiate back in September. He followed that up with a victory in the very next event in the GSW Hurricane Invitational.

Vajda can become the first golfer since 2012 to win individual medalist honors in the PBC Championship when the event tees off this weekend April 18-20.

Bennett was one of the steadiest UNG golfers this season. The second-year Nighthawk did not finish worse than 19th place in nine events this year in his first full season in the lineup. His best finish came at the last event of the year in the UWF Argonaut Invitational as the Greensboro, Ga. native carded three rounds of even-par or better to finish in fourth place at 8-under.

Bennett's low round of the year came in the opener of the Argonaut Invitational with a 6-under 66. It was his second time shooting a 66 this year after he concluded the Mizuno Intercollegiate with a final-round 66 as well.

Threlkeld made history this season to help him to his first career all-conference selection. In the final round of the Argonaut Invitational, Threlkeld completed the best round in Peach Belt Conference history with a 10-under par 62. That number broke the UNG individual program record by two strokes. He bested the conference record, which stood since 2012, by one stroke.

The Savannah, Ga. native finished in the top 10 twice this year and the top 15 four times with his best tournament coming at the Bearcat Fall Invitational with a fourth-place standing.

Now the Nighthawks will look to become the first program to win the PBC Championship in consecutive seasons since 2018 as they host the 2025 edition of the event at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. April 18-20.
