MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 11 University of North Georgia (UNG) went on the road and took down No. 33 Georgia College (GCSU) 6-1 in Milledgeville, Ga. Saturday afternoon.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 11 University of North Georgia (UNG) went on the road and took down No. 33 Georgia College (GCSU) 6-1 in Milledgeville, Ga. Saturday afternoon.

The Nighthawks (13-6, 3-1 Peach Belt) dominated the doubles point as they swept all three matches against the Bobcats (13-4, 3-2 Peach Belt) by a 6-1 score.

UNG kept its foot on the gas in singles at Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) women's singles No. 3 and senior Angelina Linnikova earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the #1 singles match.

Linnikova is now a whopping 16-0 in singles play this season. Last year she recorded 22 wins to tie the program record for the most singles victories in a season. With three regular-season matches remaining and the postseason just around the corner, Linnikova is well within reach of her record from a year ago.

Freshman Linn Goerdes, who joined Linnikova with double-digit singles wins a few weeks ago, earned her 12th victory of the year with a 7-5, 6-2 win in #4 singles Saturday.

Junior Emily Bush also moved into double figures against GCSU. The first-year Nighthawk is now 10-2 in singles matches this year after a 6-2, 6-0 dismantling in the #5 slot on Saturday.

Seniors Carolina Reis (#6 singles) and Ashley Moinard (#2 singles) also added wins over the Bobcats to cement the six points for the Nighthawks in the road victory.

UNG now turns its attention to the final home match of the season. The Nighthawks will face No. 12 Columbus State at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek in a rescheduled match from Friday after a rain out. The team will celebrate Senior Day before the match starts at 1 p.m.
