Linnikova Named PBC Player of the Year as No. 5 UNG Headlines All-Conference Teams
DAHLONEGA – The No. 5 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team headlined the 2025 Peach Belt Conference All-Conference Teams with the release of the conference honors from the league office Thursday.
Three different Nighthawks earned a spot on the all-conference teams as seniors Angelina Linnikova, Carolina Reis and Ashley Moinard all made the list.
Linnikova was named the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year and an All-Conference First Team selection for singles on Thursday.
The senior from Irkutsk, Russia has already put together one of the most impressive seasons in UNG and PBC history.
The fall campaign started on a high note as Linnikova teamed up with Reis in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional for a Runner-Up finish in women's doubles. The two would also go on to make an appearance in the national tournament at the ITA Cup.
Individually, Linnikova made waves at the ITA Cup when she finished as the National Champion Runner-Up for women's singles.
During the season, UNG's #1 singles player got off to a hot start and was named the PBC Player of the Week in three straight weeks.
She then was named to the 2025 ITA Women's Indoor Team National Championship All-Tournament Team after the Nighthawks' appearance in the event in which she won two singles matches against ranked opponents.
Linnikova remained unbeaten in singles into the thick of conference play in late March. She ended the year with four wins over ranked opponents to help her maintain an unbeaten record of 19-0 this spring.
Along the way Linnikova became just the second player in conference history and the first since 2008 to compile six separate PBC Player of the Week awards in a single season.
Linnikova is currently ranked as the ITA women's singles No. 2 player in the country ahead of the postseason. Her perfect record in 2025 makes her the only undefeated player in the top 10 of the ITA rankings this spring. She has a staggering 57-6 record in singles play in three seasons with the Nighthawks. She is 40-4 in the last two seasons and 27-2 since April 2, 2024.
Linnikova is also 8-0 against nationally ranked opponents in the spring. She has tallied wins over the No. 1, No. 2 (twice), No. 8, No. 16 and No. 25 women's singles players in the country.
She already holds the record for the most singles wins in a season, tying the previous mark with 22 victories in 2024. Her 57 career singles victories are also the most in a career in UNG women's tennis history.
Linnikova is now the first PBC Player of the Year in UNG women's tennis history. Her all-conference acclaim comes as the third of her career after being named to the First Team for singles and the Second Team for doubles a season ago.
While Linnikova has dominated singles as one of the best players in the country, she has not been too shabby with Reis in doubles.
The senior duo is 7-1 in the #1 doubles spot for the Nighthawks this season with a 2-1 record against conference foes. Their season was headlined by ranked wins over the then ITA No. 1, No. 7 and No. 24 women's doubles teams nationally.
With this year's PBC All-Conference Second Team doubles selection, Reis has earned the first postseason all-conference nod of her career after being named to the PBC Preseason All-Conference Team at the start of the season.
Moinard was named to the PBC All-Conference Second Team for singles as well Thursday. With the honor she garnered the second all-conference selection of her career after being named to the Second Team for singles last season as well.
This year Moinard was elevated to the #2 position for singles and did not disappoint as she went 12-9 in total with a 4-2 record against league opponents. Moinard recently defeated ITA women's singles No. 28 Mariana Ramirez from Columbus State for her first ranked victory of the year.
